Good Morning: A New Day

As I awoke this morning, I had a pull to new things, new ideas, new places to travel in my walk with Jesus.

It all started when I answered questions for my story at Susan B. Mead’s Share Your Story. What a vessel of honor! The more I answered and talked about my life, the more grateful I felt. I became energized and blessed.

While examining my life through her nudge, I was struck with a deep conviction laced in hope.

I've set Jesus on the back burner for too long. I put Him behind me as a rear guard and didn't allow Him ahead of me.

Yet our righteousness is IN Him alone. This scripture tells us of a gracious reward for sacrificing our own way and learning His. If we only knew how deep and strong His love flows for us.

Then your light shall break forth like the morning,
Your healing shall spring forth speedily,
And your righteousness shall go before you;
The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard. Isaiah 58:8 NKJV

Another life changing moment occurred the same day.  We were at Eagles Glory Gathering for a leadership meeting. We had pizza and shared what was going on in our lives. Like a family reunion! We laughed, gave insight, teared up, and thanked God for where He brought us.

There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. John 15:13 NLT

I feel at home in our church body. They’re funny and smart. They’re led by the Holy Spirit.

Best of all…they share God’s love with me.
Actually, God IS love! They reveal God to me.

Something great happens when you gather together with like-minded saints of God.
With all this revealed, I dove into bible study with “Let God In” with Gloria Copeland and Kellie Copeland Swisher. I’ve been blessed even more with access to a spiritual build up every morning! There’s no excuse for me to scurry around with life’s chaos until I’m prepared for it.

I don’t believe so, that is.

You know, it never fails that when I neglect my spiritual filling first thing, it never gets done. I’ll spend my entire day in a battlefield with unpolished weapons from yesterday or worse, I don’t even pick them back up for today.

Imagine being in the middle of the wilderness with no guidance for the way out. Imagine having to guess your way out of there. Would it take longer time to get out of there when you have no idea which direction to go, or start with clear guidance to the right, left, or straight ahead?

Now, imagine yourself in a peaceful meadow full of flowers growing from the softest grass you’ve ever felt. I can’t leave you with imagining the wilderness now can I? Ha ha! The pretty meadow is the rest Jesus speaks of.

Now, imagine yourself in a peaceful meadow full of flowers growing from the softest grass you've ever felt. I can't leave you with imagining the wilderness now can I? Ha ha! The pretty meadow is the rest Jesus speaks of.

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 NLT

We can walk in this meadow by seeking God FIRST and having Him guide us through our day. He knows the plans He has for us. If we believe that, then why do we get pulled away so easily at times?

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11 NLT

I’ve had a wake up call in my life in just the past few days. Our Father works patiently and precise.

When we yield, we experience Grace Himself. Then, in His patience we walk and in His preciseness we walk. Whatever we need is IN Him, not IN ourselves.

Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. Psalm 51:10 NLT

What’s your Good Morning experience? I would love to hear about it.
