What's This?

Living = having life; being alive; not dead; in actual existence or use; active or thriving; vigorous; strong; burning or glowing; flowing freely

Water = a transparent, odorless, tasteless liquid, a compound of hydrogen and oxygen, H2O, freezing at 32°F or 0°C and boiling at 212°F or 100°C, that in a more or less impure state constitutes rain,oceans, lakes, rivers, etc.: it contains 11.188 percent hydrogen and 88.812 percent oxygen, by weight; to sprinkle, moisten, or drench with water; to supply (animals/humans???) with water for drinking; to furnish with a supply of water; to furnish water to (a region), as by streams; supply (land) with water; SEE BELOW…

Genesis 1:20-22 (NIV) 20 And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.” 21 So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.”

Jeremiah 2:13 “My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.

Jeremiah 17:13 Lord, you are the hope of Israel; all who forsake you will be put to shame. Those who turn away from you will be written in the dust because they have forsaken the Lord, the spring of living water.

Ezekiel 47:9 Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live.

Zechariah 14:7-9 (NIV)

7 It will be a unique day—a day known only to the Lord—with no distinction between day and night. When evening comes, there will be light.

8 On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem, half of it east to the Dead Sea and half of it west to the Mediterranean Sea, in summer and in winter.

9 The Lord will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one Lord, and his name the only name.

John 4:9-11; 25-26 (NIV)

9 The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.)

10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”

11 “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water?

25 The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”

26 Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.”

John 7:37-39 (NIV) 37 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” 39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

Revelation 7:16-17 (NIV)  16 ‘Never again will they hunger;

never again will they thirst.

The sun will not beat down on them,’

nor any scorching heat.

17 For the Lamb at the center of the throne

will be their shepherd;

‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’

‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’”

THANK YOU, O Father God.  We know water and living creatures as You created.  Yet we thirst.  And we yearn to be watered, by You, O Lord.  O so parched, dear Father God.  Your Word, Your precious Word shows us YOU, O Christ, our LORD, are the spring of living water to quench our thirst as You water us and fill us…when we seek You.

Living Water:

From You, not by digging my own cistern that may break and leak

Hope

Creatures are living where the water/river flows

Unique day

Will flow out of Jerusalem

One Lord, His Name the Only Name

Gift of God

Ask HIM

Messiah–The Christ–I AM HE

Thirsty–come to me (Jesus) and drink

Rivers of Living Water–the Spirit–will flow from those who believe in Jesus

The Lamb will lead them to springs

And God will dry every tear

In Jesus Name.  Amen
