Mere mortals. Have you ever worried about what others think of you? This post gives 5 scriptures to recall when you are stressing about other's thoughts.

Can you tell I’m very well read-asked tongue in cheek? Marvel Comics was the stuff of my youth! How I loved all the Super Heroes. I wanted to be Cat Woman (I know – she was as anti-heroine – yet powerful! And gorgeous…), Batgirl, Wonder Woman or any member of the Justice League of America!

Wonder Woman received the blessing of each deity in her crib, thus Diana was destined to become “beautiful as Aphrodite, wise as Athena, stronger than Hercules, and swifter than Mercury”, according to Wikipedia.

Yet they are mere mortals in real life. Oh, yea. It’s not real life. They are F I C T I O N A L – totally made up, fictional, comic characters.

Yet what are we mere mortals promised by God?

“Hear me, you who know what is right, you people who have taken my instruction to heart: Do not fear the reproach of mere mortals or be terrified by their insults. Isaiah 51:7

Do not fear the reproach of mere mortals or be terrified by their insults. Yet we do – far too often.

We worry about what someone will think or say about us. Yes, I’m preaching to the choir! Guilty as charged, yes indeed. I too am just as guilty of wondering “what will they think, say or do if I do x, y, z.”

Then Asa called to the Lord his God and said, “Lord, there is no one like you to help the powerless against the mighty. Help us, Lord our God, for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this vast army. Lord, you are our God; do not let mere mortals prevail against you.” 2 Chronicles 14:11

In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? Psalm 56:4

What can mere mortals do to me? Pretend to be Superman, Batman or Spiderman? Or simply man…

The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? Psalm 118:6

The Lord is with me – and you too. I will not be afraid. You either?

So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” Hebrews 13:6

I’m finding calm in the chaos of life knowing mere mortals are just that – mere mortals. God is with me. He is my helper. I will not be afraid.

Do you know God is with you too?
