Finding Calm in the Chaos – Haven

Haven. What image hovers in your mind when you hear the word haven? Haven. Do you see: Is it an oasis - with tall palms surrounding water in the desert? The beach - with waves of aqua water gently lapping white sand?

Haven. What image hovers in your mind when you hear the word haven?

Haven. Do you see:
An oasis – with tall palms surrounding water in the desert?
The beach – with waves of aqua water gently lapping white sand?
The forest – with a glade treed in by towering Sequoias
The mountains – with a cabin warm and cozy

Haven. Is it a place you see or something you feel?
Secure
Warm
Held close
Comforted
Loved

Haven – is that a place you see or something you feel? Warm Secure Held close Comforted & Loved

Like a toddler running to mom or dad to swoop them up in delight, holding their tot oh so close to their heart, secure in love and protection, that’s one haven.

Or is a haven like a woman hugging a newborn babe close to nurse as she looks up to the man, her husband, who loves her – and that new life – with all his heart, knowing they are family – nourished, fed, loved, and protected?

Or is a haven like a couple in the 80s or 90s holding each others arms as they walk through life together?  Still holding on. Trusting.  Loving.  Leaning in and leaning on each other.

29 He stilled the storm to a whisper;
the waves of the sea were hushed.
30 They were glad when it grew calm,
and he guided them to their desired haven.
31 Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love
and his wonderful deeds for mankind.
Psalm 107:29-31 (NIV)

Haven

Is an earthly haven really heaven on earth? Oh, yes! It’s where God scoops us up into His mighty arms, pulling us close to His heart, loving us and feeding us with His very Word, gently, yet with a depth that defies definition or even an adequate description!

Haven. Heaven. Hope. He loves me. Halleluia!

We sing Heaven come down. Yes, that song feels like it swoops me into a Haven – right here on earth. Yes, indeed, Heaven come down!

All things bright and beautiful You are
All things wise and wonderful You are
In my darkest night You brighten up the skies
A song will rise

I will sing a song of hope, sing along
God of heaven come down, heaven come down
Just to know that You are near is enough
God of heaven come down, heaven come down, yeah

All the things new, I can start again
Creator God, calling me Your friend
Sing praise, my soul to the Maker of the skies
A song will rise

I will sing a song of hope, sing along
God of heaven come down, heaven come down
Just to know that You are near is enough
God of heaven come down, heaven come down

Oh, sing a song of hope, sing along
God of heaven come down, heaven come down
Just to know You and be loved is enough
God of heaven come down, heaven come down

Hallelujah, sing
Hallelujah, sing, sing
Oh, Hallelujah, sing
Sing a song of hope, sing along

God of heaven come down, heaven come down
Just to know that You are near is enough
God of heaven come down, heaven come down

Oh, sing a song of hope, sing along
God of heaven come down, heaven come down
Just to know that You are near is enough
God of heaven come down, heaven come down

Oh, sing a song of hope, sing along
God of heaven come down, heaven come down
Just to know You and be loved is enough
God of heaven come down, heaven come down, yeah

Heaven come down
Heaven come down
Heaven come down
Heaven come down
Heaven come down
