Go UP to Jerusalem

I never knew…

You go UP to Jerusalem!

Did you know?

The Mountain of the Lord
4 In the last days
the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established
as the highest of the mountains;
it will be exalted above the hills,
and peoples will stream to it.
2 Many nations will come and say,
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the temple of the God of Jacob.
He will teach us his ways,
so that we may walk in his paths.”
The law will go out from Zion,
the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
Micah 4:1-2 (NIV)

Yes, you go UP to Jerusalem!

Jerusalem is physically higher than the surrounding hills as well as on a higher spiritual plane. You simply FEEL the very presence of the LORD God Almighty in Jerusalem.

On a recent trip to Israel, day 1 started with a trip to the Mount of Olives. Lysa TerKeurst, President of Proverbs 31 Ministries, taught – powerfully! This was her first time to take a group to Israel and her 6th time to visit God’s Holy Land.

Go UP to Jerusalem. Have you ever heard you go UP to Jerusalem? This post provides 5 scripture regarding God's promises about Jerusalem.

And we started at The Mount of Olives. Why? It is THE first place the feet of Jesus will descend upon and where He will stand when He makes His triumphant return…and we stood there on the Mount of Olives…

In AWE of God
Of His unchanging Word
Knowing our feet were on Holy ground – The Mount of Olives

3 Then the Lord will go out and fight against those nations, as he fights on a day of battle. 4 On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south.
Zechariah 14:3-4 (NIV)

18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. Matthew 16:18 (NIV)

Seeing the Dome of the Rock, the Muslim Mosque, across the Kidron Valley in Jerusalem, built on top of where Solomon’s Temple once stood…

Go UP to Jerusalem. Have you ever heard you go UP to Jerusalem? This post provides 5 scripture regarding God's promises about Jerusalem.

In Moab I will put an end to those who make offerings on the high places and burn incense to their gods,” declares the LordJeremiah 48:35

Yet knowing the keys to heaven were giving to Peter to build His church as Jesus overcame death.

I pray the Name of Jesus is heard by all, as He so desires each and every person, regardless of religion or nationality, will come to know Him as their Lord and Savior.

8 On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem, half of it east to the Dead Sea and half of it west to the Mediterranean Sea, in summer and in winter.
9 The Lord will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one Lord, and his name the only name.
10 The whole land, from Geba to Rimmon, south of Jerusalem, will become like the Arabah. But Jerusalem will be raised up high from the Benjamin Gate to the site of the First Gate, to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the royal winepresses, and will remain in its place. 11 It will be inhabited; never again will it be destroyed. Jerusalem will be secure.
Zechariah 14:8-11 (NIV)

Living Water will flow
The Lord will be King
There will be One Lord
His Name the Only Name
Jerusalem will be raised UP
The surrounding area will be a dry and desolate plain (Arabah)

– Royal winepresses –
Jesus’s royal blood was pressed out for us

– Jerusalem –
Will remain in its place
Will be inhabited
Will never again be destroyed

– Jerusalem –
Will be secure

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:9-11 (NIV)

Amen

  1. Oooooooo…. so jelly you were at Jerusalem! It’s on our bucket list. You might like our site, since it’s all about Israel. Found you through the Coffee & Conversation linkup at PatandCandy.com, and soooo glad we did! Now we can join your linkup, too. Have an amazingly blessed day!

  2. I recently studied through the gospel of Matthew and thought a lot about the Mount of Olives since it is mentioned all throughout that gospel. So your insights about this prophesied mountain and the significance of it all, are so very inspiring and interesting to me, Susan. I suppose you were there present at this Holy Land trip you mentioned Lysa TerKeurst spoke at? What a treat that would have been! Thanks for sharing and inspiring all of us to worship our amazing Lord. Oh, and I think you’ve invited me to your linkups before and since I don’t usually blog later in the week, I’ve missed out and forgotten about it. I’m glad to discover it’s open long enough for me to join on my typical Wednesday blogging day. I’ll try to do so from now on. 🙂

  3. Hi precious Susan!
I am a Messianic Jewess from Israel and 2 out of my 5 children were actually born in Jerusalem. I’m so glad you got to visit Israel. There is no place like it on the Earth. A special place with beauty all it’s own…

God bless you, dear sister 🙂

  4. WOW!!! I cannot even comprehend standing on the Mount of Olives gazing on all the beauty and reflecting on God’s Word alive before my eyes! Thank you for sharing your journey with us Susan 🙂

  5. Susan! I’m finishing up a Beth Moore study … ‘STEPPING UP’ … and she talks about “going up” to Jerusalem … sheds new light on the Psalms! I love how your post is RICH in Scripture! (Thanks for inviting me over!) Have a blessed weekend.

  10. That is so cool that you were able to go on Lysa’s trip! Her pictures on IG have been amazing, she’s also periscoped a coupled a times. I couldn’t imagine being in the Holy Land. The trip sounds amazing from your post too! Thanks for the linkup!

  11. Your eyes must have been WIDE trying to take it all in!
I love the dance of type and anti-type in Scripture all around that little piece of real estate in Palestine. Your words make me long for the day when “the city” comes down from heaven and all these little outposts where we now worship become one before our LORD!

  12. Thank you for hosting! What an incredible trip! You are so blessed to be able to travel and walk through those places Jesus walked!

  13. What an incredible experience! To walk in the same places Jesus walked. To see the Bible come alive as you walk through the exact places it talks about. wow!
