Words
So many words…
Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. LIE. From the enemy. And we started hearing it and believing it when we were children…
Yet God’s Word tells us differently.
Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. Proverbs 16:24
And the words that will supposedly never hurt me – what does God say about those?
[Tweet “Forgive me Father, for I have grumbled AND found fault – TODAY! “]14 Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about them: “See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones 15 to judge everyone, and to convict all of them of all the ungodly acts they have committed in their ungodliness, and of all the defiant words ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” 16 These people are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage. Jude 14-16 (NIV)
Lord, Your Word is true and it rings deep in my soul as conviction shakes me to the core. How easily I forget anything that displeases You is evil. Pure and simple. Evil.
May I go back to the gracious words like a honeycomb? They’re sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose. Proverbs 18:21
17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17 (NKJV)
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word and the Word is heard about Christ. Amen Father! Build our faith with Your Holy Word – Jesus.
No sticks and stones here…except the 2 pieces of wood that built a bridge from Earth to Heaven when Jesus hung on them and died for me. And you too.
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. Mark 13:31
Oh Father, how comforting. I praise Your Holy Name and say a heart-felt thank You.
May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14
Yes Lord and Amen. May my words be pleasing to You, Lord Jesus, my Rock and Redeemer. Bless You.

Oh, that verse from Proverbs is so soothing. It reveals to us the other side of words, the sweet side, the beautiful side. I long for more of those kinds of words in my life. Thank you for your encouragement today.
Soothing. thanks Sarah. That is so good to know you see that side of words. Hugs! Susan
Words hurt so much. I want my words to be as sweet as honeycomb too. Parked in the #16 spot at FMF.
Yes, Tara, words pierce, penetrating hearts. May our words be sweet and filled with the aroma of heaven. Hugs, Susan
Having to diligently speak His Words of truth over myself minute by minute these last few weeks. His words have kept me afloat. So much POWER in words.
Amen Tyra! Keep speaking His Words over you- thats TRUTH right there.
Thank you, Susan 🙂 I always enjoy my time here in your corner of the blog world! Words, words, words. Our tongues do hold so much power!

I choose Fruit! Love this and the tweet: “Father forgive me for I have grumbled AND found fault today!” Yikes. Thanks for the great reminders. ♥
Amen girlfriend. I was busted TOO!
“Father, I choose Fruit. The fruit of faithfully following You.” <— Yes, JESUS! … Wonderful post, Susan! Always a blessing to visit with you! GOD bless you, beautiful friend! 🙂
Awww, Tai, Thank you! I love having you visit – you bless me too. Hugs, Susan
Our words and how we say that can have a damaging effect or bring life into any situation. It is a powerful choice. I pray I can choose life more often than not!
Amen and me too! Thanks Anastasia.
I’m giggling at the grumbling/finding fault part. My in-laws are in town and I just conquered the breakfast and school dropoff routine. That being said, there may have been just a little heart grumbling going on;) May my words and meditation be pleasing…amen!!
Girl-I love your comments! You made me laugh out loud today, Meg. HUGS! Susan
Thank you for the reminder to be careful with my words.
You are most welcome, Cathy. I was really preaching to myself…
One of my favorites is that God’s word will not return void, it will accomplish His purpose. I hang on those words when discouragement threatens.
Amen! And thank God for that promise, Liz.
This is probably the fifth or sixth time the Lord has brought up “words” with me in the last couple of days. I think I need to listen!! Thank you for voicing what He lays on your heart : )
Bethany, me too. We gotta lean in closer and listen first, huh?! New way of doing things is good when God is leading…Hugs, Susan
