What's This?

Have you ever decided to do something new and the FIRST thing that happens is pushback? It rears its ugly head and appears as a test to your commitment. Why is that? Resistance is designed to block process - and your pursuit of progress. Ever experienced that? Yep, me too - today, in fact.

Have you ever decided to do something new and the FIRST thing that happens is pushback? All you want is to find the calm in the midst of your chaos, yet resistance rears its ugly head and appears as a test to your commitment. Why is that?

Resistance is designed to block process – & your pursuit of progress. Ever experienced that?

Yep, me too – today, in fact. I decided to participate in the #Write31Days challenge. Each day in October, bloggers and writers from around the world are writing for 31 consecutive days.

Many have a theme for their writing challenge. Since the tagline to what I do is helping others find calm in the chaos of life, the theme “Finding Calm in the Chaos” seems natural.

Until resistance arose today!

Why is that?

Because testing comes…

Sometime later God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied. Genesis 22:1 (NIV)

God tested Abraham. Have you ever thought about it that way – that we should anticipate testing?

Are we truly committed to our decisions? Or will we waiver, wallowing in indecision only to be distracted or diverted from our desires, decisions and destiny?

Are we truly committed to our decisions? Or will we waiver, wallowing in indecision only to be distracted or diverted from our desire, decision and destiny?

So I reply, “Here I am.”

Oh, my, does the tagline really say finding calm in the chaos? Well, then, thank God the word finding is in there!

It’s a treasure hunt we get to go on to FIND something new each day. Expect to explore life with our Heavenly Father guiding us to find His calm assurance – every step of the way.

I’m committed and calm, trusting God to guide my thoughts and words, to bless me and you, His sons and daughters as we learn new ways of thinking about life and finding His calm.  Is this a journey on your bucket list?  Not really…yet so needed.

You will find it’s full of words that fill you with His hope and His calm.

Finding = the act of a person or thing that finds; discovery, especially by scholars or scientists; the results of an investigation; a conclusion reached after examination or investigation; a statement or document containing an authoritative decision or conclusion.

Calm = the absence of violent or confrontational activity; tranquil, quiet, soothe, serene, peace, undisturbed, at rest, chilled out, steady, free from stress or worry.

I’m liking this treasure hunt already! Did you feel a sense of calm settling in – already? Want to dig in?

Chaos = in disorder, confusion, disarray, disorganization, mayhem, bedlam, pandemonium, havoc, turmoil, tumult, commotion, disruption, upheaval, uproar, maelstrom, jumbled.

EEK! Evoking calm in the midst of our chaotic lives is the thread for this trek, not entering OR entertaining an environment of chaos.

These topical threads will weave a tapestry over the month of October representing our daily lives and the many things that pull on the ends, frequently splintering, splitting, and fraying our attention span…and our attitude.  (Oh my goodness – the ends of my hair, too!)

Would you like to retool and refocus, rethinking your responses to so many things? I say yes…

Family
Finances
Fun
Funky Stuff
Faith
Spouse
Kids
School
Homework
Sports
Cheer
Dance
Band
Work
Promotion
Part-time, full-time, overtime = no time
House
Health
Food
Walk
Workout

Wow, our list just goes on and on, endlessly…

So do the Words from His Word…

Holy Days
Haven
Quieted myself
Patient
Wisdom
Be Still
Do not worry
God is able

These are a few of the threads we will loop through the loom as we begin finding truth and the calm that’s already there. We have simply overlooked it far to often.

Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. 2 Peter 1:2 (NIV)

Join me here each day in October as we delve deep into His Holy Word, finding calm.  Every day.

  1. Thanks Susan for always being an inspiration to others.. Looking forward to this great devotion. It couldn’t have come at a better time for me. ❤️

  2. Here to settle in with you! I love digging in the treasure chest of God’s word. I get diverted often from my pursuits of progress but staying in that chest is one place I try very hard to keep on track. 🙂 Thank you and good luck with 31 days in row!

    1. Thank you Jodie! Finding calm in the chaos – of three trips, including an international trip, and 3 visits from friends all in this month. I am soon looking forward to what God is going to reveal in this fun time. Hugs, Susan

  3. I sure could use some calm in my chaos:( I left Corporate America in June to be a stay at home mommy and wife. We are expecting our second child (7 months pregnant now), and I have had a really really hard time adjusting to being home full time, and being pregnant at almost 40 years old.
