Marked Up…or Messed Up?

Marked Up or Messed Up

I heard someone say a person with a Bible marked up lives a life not messed up.  WOW!  That stopped me in my tracks.  Why?

I NEVER wanted to mark up my pristine Bible.  Was I messed up?  AM I messed up?

I thought I was honoring God and keeping His book beautiful and clean.  And you guessed correctly if you figured I did not highlight books either.

Until recently.

How is it that God gets our attention in the little things?  That turn out to be the BIG things?  Lack of understanding by me led to no underlining on my part.  Seems underling God’s Word is really about seeking to know His love, faith, wisdom, understanding, etc.

His Word.  Where is it written in my life?  In a pristine book…or on my messy heart?

Oh, Lord!  You have my attention now.  Let me OPEN my newly printed, pristine Bible and dive in to seek you.  May I soak up Your wisdom and understanding as I mark up my Bible so You, Father God, can mark my heart up with Your Word.  Love.  Delight.  Joy.  From You to me.  Thank YOU, Father God!

Matthew 3:16-17 The moment Jesus came up out of the baptismal waters, the skies opened up and he saw God’s Spirit—it looked like a dove—descending and landing on him. And along with the Spirit, a voice: “This is my Son, chosen and marked by my love, delight of my life.”

  1. Thank you for this Susan! Cheering you. Thank you Jesus that you were marked so that your word could make marks in our heart. I love this truth Susan. I am cheering you on and am one of your biggest fans! Go dear friend go!

    1. Thank you precious friend! You teach me so much as you cheer others on and rally so many for a common purpose. Proclaiming the name of the Lord! Yes ma’am. Difference maker in His Kingdom. That’s you, Kelly

  2. Oh, how I love to circle and underline in my Bible! AND, add dates and notes of why the verse meant so much! My Bible is the story of my life, and how God has been faithful and always there for me! Thanks Susan!
