Wander

17 Why, Lord, do you make us wander from your ways

and harden our hearts so we do not revere you?

Return for the sake of your servants,

the tribes that are your inheritance. ~ Isaiah 63:17(NIV)

Oh, that you would rend the heavens and come down,

that the mountains would tremble before you!

2 As when fire sets twigs ablaze

and causes water to boil,

come down to make your name known to your enemies

and cause the nations to quake before you! ~ Isaiah 64:1-2 (NIV)

I never thought about it like this:

Why do You, Lord, MAKE us wander from Your ways…

I never thought about it like this: Why do You, Lord, make us wander from Your ways and harden our hearts so we don't revere You?

Turning away

Rebelling

Defiant

Removing prayer from schools

Removing Your name from our lips

Removing the 10 commandments from public buildings

Enacting laws that defy the Word of the Supreme God

And harden our hearts so we don’t revere you? Oh, Father, we need You.  Today.

I never thought about it like this: Why do You, Lord, make us wander from Your ways and harden our hearts so we don't revere You?

if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. ~ 2 Chronicles 7:14(NIV)

Return, Father. I call Your Name HOLY.  I pray before you, humbled, seeking Your face as I turn from my own wickedness.

Rend the Heavens and come down, Lord.

Let Your mountains tremble before You, Father…

To make Your Name KNOWN.

I praise You, Father, and I pray Your holy will is done, here on earth as it is in Heaven.

Prayer

5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

9 “This, then, is how you should pray:

“‘Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,

10 your kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

11 Give us today our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts,

as we also have forgiven our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from the evil one.’

14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Matthew 6:5-15 (NIV)

Safe.  Forgiven.  Loved. Delivered from the evil one…

In Jesus name.  Amen

  1. We should all be on our knees for our country in these days… Thank you for the reminder, and for hosting this get-together! 🙂

  2. I like the passages you shared–it makes me so sad to see how much hate and judgment there is these days, and very much agree that forgiving others (and treating others with kindness) is the way to go.

  3. Beautiful Susan. There is so much pain and heartache in this world, and evil seems to run rampant. Sometimes it all seems very overwhelming. I love your approach here – going directly to Scripture to address the attacks of the evil one. This is exactly how Jesus dealt with the evil one. I was encouraged by your words not to give up, but to bring all our cares before our heavenly Father in prayer.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Kamea

  4. Beautiful prayer, Susan.
His word is so captivating–thank you for the reminder to pray the scriptures.
Joining my heart in prayer with your words today: “Return, Father. I call Your Name HOLY. I pray before you, humbled, seeking Your face as I turn from my own wickedness.” Amen.

  5. I love that you call us to turn from our own wicked ways. Revival in our land starts with revival personally in our own hearts as Christians. Thank you for your lovely linkup!

  6. Amen. Being bathed in the Word as I felt I was reading through this post is so wonderful. And it made me feel so hopeful – visiting from FMF!

  7. Susan,
Amen. Remembering in spite of everything else, God has this. The one phrase that sticks out to me over the last several weeks is “Everything has changed and nothing has changed”. The one we live for and by has not changed and will never change. That is a constant that gives me comfort! Blessings and smiles! Lori

  8. Yes, we all need Jesus. It’s been quite a month in our nation. When we turn to the Truth, there is no question what steps we follow. Praying with you, Susan, for myself and all.

  9. Oh, that list burdens my heart. I’ve felt really heavy in the cultural and political climate lately. Thank you for rooting us in truth through scripture. It’s only here that we have hope, thank you Jesus!

  10. Thank you for the returning us to the name of Jesus through scripture today. He is the one and only and we need to be the messengers to proclaim this to others. Our world is mixed up and turned upside down right now and only through God’s word and truth can we help be the light for others. Have a blessed weekend!

  11. Beautiful scriptures, Susan! I love the passage you shared. Just the reminder we need when things look bleak. God is always in control, and always working on our behalf! Blessings, friend:)

  12. I’m left pondering the delicate balance between what God allows in terms of our rebellion and then His gentle wooing of our hearts back to Him. Thank you for this lovely quilt of related Scriptures. Blessings!

    1. Blessings to you Michele. Yes it’s amazing how Jesus is there. Whatever and whenever and however delicate the balance is. What we feel depends on where we look. I choose to look to Him.

  13. Susan,
Thank you for being a voice for those who love the Lord and attempt to follow His commands. I can’t help but believe that God grieves over our perpetual wandering from His ways. We are stupid, like sheep, but we can still try to learn from our mistakes. May God give us the strength and power to stay on the right path…praying this for myself and for our country today…thanks!
    Blessings,
    Bev

Thank you for your precious time I’m visiting many blogs including mine I am grateful.
    Finally, Amen! God answers prayers.
    have a splendid weekend ahead.
Loads of blessings to you and your family.

  15. Susan,
It’s so easy to forget we carry the powerful weapon of prayer in our arsenal. Thank you for the reminder to seek God humbly in prayer on behalf of our nation/world, just as Daniel did (and so many others before him).
