BURDEN. O Lord, would you carry this (me)…?

Burden = that which is borne, physically or spiritually

Psalm 38:4 (NIV)

My guilt has overwhelmed me

like a burden too heavy to bear.

19 Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior,

who daily bears our burdens.

from the Sovereign Lord comes escape from death.

Ecclesiastes 1:13 (NIV)

13 I devoted myself to study and to explore by wisdom all that is done under the heavens. What a heavy burden God has laid on mankind!

Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

2 Corinthians 12:14 (NIV)

14 Now I am ready to visit you for the third time, and I will not be a burden to you, because what I want is not your possessions but you. After all, children should not have to save up for their parents, but parents for their children.

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

1 Thessalonians 2:9 (NIV)

Surely you remember, brothers and sisters, our toil and hardship; we worked night and day in order not to be a burden to anyone while we preached the gospel of God to you.

Hebrews 13:17 (NIV)

17 Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.

Thank You, Lord.

When I look at what we humans can do, the burden is:

  Too heavy to bear

Loaded down by the authorities without help

  Covered by each other

When I look at what YOU do, the burden is:

  Borne daily

  Given rest

  Light

  Fulfilling the law of Christ

  ME!

Thank You, O Lord, for bearing the burden of ME and for fulfilling the law of Christ.  In Jesus Name.  Amen
